19th century
The 19th century started on 1801 and ended in 1900. This period marked the collapse of the mughal empires, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and holy roman empires. This has led to the growth of the British Empire, German empire and US.
After the completion of the Napoleonic war the British Empire became the world leading power controlling nearly one quarter of the worlds total population. It also occupied one third of the land.
The 19th century was an era for the invention and discovery with the major development in the fields of the mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, electricity and metallurgy.
It is during this age the industrial revolution began in Europe.
In 1800’s advance in medicine and learning of human anatomy and at the same time prevention of disease took place. The population of Europe doubled from 200 million to 400 million. The railroads were introduced changing the life of people.
The undiscovered landmass of the earth including the expansion of Africa and Asia were unrevealed during this century. Slavery was mostly reduced following the successful slave revolt. At the same time Serfdom was removed from Russia.
The 19th century was a remarkable one in the widespread for the new settlers.
The century was also noted for the creation of sports and development mainly in the United States and United Kingdom. The famous sporting event like Football Association, Rugby Union, and American Football, Base ball, Basket ball and the volley ball were developed in this century.
